The San Juan Islands are made up of several hundred islands although only just over a hundred islands are significant enough to have names. Four of these islands... Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas Island, and San Juan Island are serviced by the Washington State ferry system. This means you can easily drive back and forth to the mainland by taking the ferry.
But this page is supposed to be about farms located in the San Juan Islands of which there are several. All farms are privately owned and operated however some farms are more traditional in that they are raising some sort of livestock, poultry, or seafood and other farms are more progressive because of their focus on organic food products. Most of these food products are sold at the local farmers market, or to local restaurants, or sold to off island entities.
At the time of writing there is only one farm currently for sale on any of the islands... click here for an updated list of farms currently for sale on Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas Island, and San Juan Island.
