In 2013 the PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center opened at 1117 Spring st in Friday Harbor. PeaceHealth offers the following medical services and treatment: Cancer Center, Emergency Room, Family Medicine, Imaging Services, Inpatient Unit, Laboratory, Outpatient Surgery Center.
The nearest major hospital to the San Juan Islands is Islands Hospital in Anacortes however Lopez Island, Orcas Island ( home of Eastsound Village ), and
San Juan Island ( home of Friday Harbor and
Roche Harbor ) each have their own
medical centers.
For serious and critical medical emergencies Airlift Northwest will medevac
victims to nearby hospitals. The program costs just $79 per year and covers the
whole family.
In Friday harbor there is the Interisland Medical Center which is located on
Spring Street next to the convalescent home. They offer complete primary care,
preventative care, physical exams, immunizations, newborn care and family
planning, procedures, and have specialty visits to handle cardiology, podiatry,
and radiology. Procedures such as mammograms, bone density studies, fasting
laboratory tests, stress testing, and ultrasounds are also available.
San Juan Healthcare located at 689 Airport Center suite B has three MDs and
provide children and teens care, adult internal medicine, women's health,
geriatrics, minor injuries, urgent care, and skin care. 360-378-1338.
Lopez Island also has its own Lopez Island Medical Clinic located in Lopez
Village. Lopez Island Pharmacy is also located in the village and the dentist
office is just outside of the village on Fisherman Bay Road. Lopez Island has a
hospice and home support service. For medical emergencies it is served by
Airlift Northwest.
On Orcas Island the Orcas Island Family Health Center is located in Eastsound
Village at Airport Center. A doctor is on call 24 hours a day seven days a week.
Emergency services such as fractures, lacerations, splint and cast application,
and sudden illnesses are easily handled as well as other standard medical center
services such as preventative medicine, adult medicine, laboratory services,
pediatric medicine, mental health and well-being, obstetric and gynecologic
medicine, and cardiology services provided by North cascade cardiology.
The islands have no shortage of other alternative healthcare providers
specializing in holistic, spiritual, acupuncture, massage, reflexology, and
clairvoyant services. Each island also has its own hospice.
