San Juan County has the highest per capita tax rate in
Washington state, the rate is $2386 per person. This number
is misleading for the following reasons. The San Juan
Islands have a number of extremely expensive properties in
approximately 35% of the homes in San Juan County are
unoccupied because they are summer homes for second homes.
The property taxes in San Juan County are the lowest in
Washington state. The tax rates vary depending on which
island the home is on. The rate for San Juan Island is
approximately 6.46. So if your home is worth $600,000 you
divide that by 1000 and then multiply it by 6.46.
$600,000 ?? 1000 x 6.46 = $3876

Waldron Island 4.47204
Orcas Island 5.76614
